Travelogue of the Interior

faith questions

Faith questions. It thrives cheek and jowl with doubt, in places where mystery trumps certainty, when we give God room to move in unexpected ways. And move He does, unchanging even as He bids us follow to places even angels fear to tread. Here is a place for faith questions, a place where faith questions. I don't have answers, only the desperation to follow God into an unseen yet promised land, and a vague sense of how to travel: honestly, embracing doubt, admitting tension, on hands and knees, feet too, running. With words and tears. Blindly sometimes. I'm glad you are here. I hope you join me.

I didn’t set out to write a book.  I set out to write a poem of all things (disclaimer: I am not a poet), and ended up spending a year studying the psalms — reading them, singing them, even learning to write my own. True confession: I have a love/hate relationship with blogging. For now, this is a place for public wrangling as I struggle to abandon the comfort of religious systems to get at a purer gospel and an incarnational faith. I abhor the hot take, I write when I must, when something inside is about to burst. I hope you join me in dialogue.

Time for a confession: about once a month I sit down in the middle of the day. That’s it. That’s my confession. You were hoping for something a bit more titillating, weren’t you? Mainly I sit down because I’m so exhausted that the mere thought of trying to be productive makes me want to curl […]

When Privilege Is A Disability

When Privilege Is A Disability

Sep 16, 2014 | 5 Comments

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about privilege. About what the Kingdom of God is and what privilege has to do with it. How those of us in the affluent Christian West might actually enter the Kingdom of God, and why indeed we might want to. It all started at the beginning of the summer […]
